Drained to Numbness | Poetry

We often lose sight of who controls our lives. Through the storms that break us and the low moments we forget what it means to live. Everyone walks different paths in life but we all have pumping hearts that hurt the same. We lose understanding and compassion when we cannot relate; allowing uncomfortable moments to create space between us and those who need us.

Allyssa hopes what is left on these pages reaches the cracks where words have fallen and shapes the burden buried too deep for words. Carrying silence like second skin, poems become voices for the voiceless. She wrote these verses navigating anger, grief, healing, and hope. Inside these pages a single line can validate years of silence and a mirror for someone whose never seen their true reflection. Poetry isn’t perfect nor does it always rhyme, but on these pages statements are written for a softer heart and self reflection.

This is not just poetry, it is survival on the page. Unlike your typical poetry collection, these poems lay in the order in which they came to mind. Thoughts don’t always tell stories and stories don’t always align. Here is a piece of my heart. Please welcome it in yours.
