My Why

Hey everyone,

Writing is a form a communication many connect with and find answers to looming questions they have. We all can learn from one another and it is a beautiful thing. For me I make meaning out of words in a way to connect with people. Writing can be freeing but when you are a perfectionist and a writer, you find yourself backspacing a lot 😂.

I write for myself knowing I can connect with a broader audience and build a community. Writing for me is a place of comfort but space in which I can be the most vulnerable. When you face a lot in life, you mind tends to roam while your mouth shuts tighter. At a young age when I felt my words wouldn’t make sense out loud I would write to my mom so she would understand. Pen and paper helped me get the thoughts out faster then talking. As I got older I found writing was something that helped me free myself from myself.

Typically I find myself writing throughout the day but for some reason my brain thinks its best to give me ideas in the middle of my sleep. I find it hard at times when my thoughts don’t flow the way I want them too. Writer’s block will make you feel like the worst writer. To combat mine I like to read, have conversations, or a brain dump of things that revolve around the piece or story I’m trying to convey. Books and writing are not one size fit all, I like to say writing is like the bread isle, many options that fit your reader needs.

My home away from home gives me peace but also gives me purpose. I feel complete when my work comes together and touches people as well. I am grateful of my gift and for the purpose it gives me. I started writing to find an escape and it’s poured so much back into me. This journey has taught me a lot and there is a lot more to come.

Pen down,

Allyssa

It’s amazing being able to get the perspective of writers day to day. Along with the behind the scenes thoughts that help fuel your creativity and writing. Thank you for sharing. Writing for me is more of an emotional release and allows for me to get my repetitive thoughts out. It helps ease my mind.
